Terms of Service & Liability Release
By submitting your items for sharpening or repair to Sandstone Finishing ("the Company"), you (the "Customer") agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. Authorization of Work
The Customer authorizes the Company to perform sharpening, honing, or repair services on the provided items. Customer understands that sharpening is a subtractive process involving the removal
of metal and/or handle material to create a new edge or repair damage. The Company will use professional judgment to determine the appropriate angles and methods but does not guarantee a specific
aesthetic outcome or "like-new" restoration.
2. Assumption of Risk & Safety Warning
SHARPENED ITEMS ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
Increased Risk: Customer acknowledges that serviced items will be significantly sharper than when dropped off or delivered.
Handling: Customer assumes all responsibility for the safe handling, storage, and transportation of items after service.
Third Parties: Customer agrees to warn any third parties (family, employees, or guests) who may come into contact with the sharpened items of their extreme sharpness.
3. Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Customer hereby releases, waives, and discharges Sandstone Finishing and its owners/employees from any and all liability, claims, or demands arising out of:
Personal injury, Patient injury, lacerations, or property damage caused by the use or misuse of the serviced items.
Pre-existing structural flaws (e.g., internal heat-treat cracks) that may cause a blade to fail during the sharpening process.
Minor cosmetic changes or thinning of the blade necessary to achieve a functional edge.
4. Limitation of Damages
In the event of proven negligence or accidental damage to an item while in the Company’s possession, (not to include travel "shipping" fron the company to the customer) the Company’s total financial liability shall be limited to the lesser of:
The original purchase price of the item (with proof of purchase); OR
The current fair market value of the item in its pre-serviced condition.
Under no circumstances shall the Company be liable for "consequential damages," such as lost wages or business downtime.
5. Service Policies
Right of Refusal: We reserve the right to refuse service on any item deemed unsafe, illegal, or beyond repair.
Abandoned Property: Items not picked up within 30 days of completion will be considered abandoned and may be sold or disposed of to cover service costs.
Satisfaction Period: If you are unsatisfied with the edge or repair please notify us within 30 days. We will re-sharpen the item once at no additional charge. No cash refunds are provided for completed labor.
6. Return shipping.
USPS Priority mail is normally used to ship your order back to you. We insure all return orders for $500 at no extra cost to you. In case of lose or damaged orders, Sandstone Finishing will reimburse you the maximum of
$500.
